I recently bought a mail box from Homebits. It was a maring grade stainless steel box which was priced at £499. This product is sold as secure with a lockable front which makes retrieval of the mail simple. The mail box looks great and it was clearly well built. However it was not secure. It is easy to remove the post through the letter flap. As a result I contacted Homebits and asked if I could return the mail box. The company argued with me telling me that they had received no prior complaints and would not accept that the box was not secure. I was told that the Manager had one and advised to fit the box high on a wall to make it physically impossible for anyone to reach down into the box. After much discussion I was informed that Homebits would give me a refund but said I would have to pay for the postage. It is not fit for purpose which according to Trading Standards should mean Homebits is responsible for its return. Homebits would not pay for the return postage. I lost £22. My advice is not to use this company unless you are 100% sure that you will not want to return the goods.
