Fashion retailer offers same-day delivery for online orders

This week Oasis announced that its customers will now not only be able to buy products online and get them delivered on the same day, but also choose a convenient time at which to receive the items.

Retail Week reports that as long as you live within 15 miles of an Oasis high street outlet, this new e-commerce capability will be available to you.

The same-day delivery is available, free of charge, if you spend over £100 and the orders are being fulfilled by Shutl, which is a small but growing courier company, targeted at offering quick dispatch of online orders.

People who decide to get their fashion items delivered in this way will even be able to use their PC or smartphone to check up on the location of their items, since each Shutl courier has GPS onboard.

Oasis spokesperson, Hash Ladha, talked up the importance of multichannel retail during the announcement of the same day delivery service, pointing out that consumers now expect a greater degree of responsiveness from e-commerce sites, which it is up to businesses to provide in whatever way they can.

Ladha also pointed out that Oasis is the first of the UK's fashion retailers to offer this type of delivery service and the first customers to benefit from it will already have received their deliveries as the scheme went live on October 28th.

Shutl has been shaking up e-commerce deliveries significantly in recent months, making enough noise to rouse the attention of major firms.

Last month, it was confirmed that online auction giant, eBay, had taken over Shutl, although the amount it paid for the company was not revealed. This could mean faster deliveries are coming to products which are purchased via bidding.
