90 minute online shopping delivery service widens availability

Shutl, the service which promises to deliver the products you buy online to your door in under an hour and a half, is now operational in more locations across the UK than ever before.

It began life last year with fast deliveries available to people living in London, but since then it has expanded to cover 10 major cities across the country. The latest places where Shutl operates include Liverpool, Cardiff, Aberdeen and even Belfast.

Shutl operates so quickly because it sources the items not from a central warehouse but instead from local shops, which means it can continue delivering 7 days a week.

A quartet of top designer brands including Warehouse, Oasis, Karen Millen and Coast will be working with Shutl to make the delivery of clothes purchased via safe shopping online take less time to complete than the duration of an average film.

It is still early days for the company and it expects to add many more retail partners in the coming months so that a larger proportion of the UK population will have an interest in using its services.

E-commerce companies like Amazon have put significant amounts of pressure on high street retailers which is why a multichannel approach is being taken. Bricks and mortar franchises which can combine the online shopping experience with this 90 minute delivery time, should stand a better chance of remaining competitive.

Spokesperson, Tom Allanson, said that by branching out into 10 of the UK's most populated cities, it was possible for Shutl to serve a potential audience made up of 40 per cent of all people who shop online.

In the run up to Christmas, Mr Allanson anticipates that the speedy delivery will appeal to more and more consumers, thus giving high street stores who have e-commerce sites more chance of improving sales.
