If you are thinking of using Aviva car insurance - you may want to think again. Should you have an accident and you want to used your own repairer you will be penalised on your excess for doing so. In my case I wanted to use my own garage who is a BSi (British Standards) approved repairer. If I want to use them I will be penalised by £200.00 on my normal excess of £150.00 making a hefty total of £350. I should be able to choose who I use for my repairs and not penalised. This is done only in the interests of Aviva or them to save money. My car will now have to be repaired by Nationwide who are paid a set amount for each job (average repair cost) They have to work on volumn to make this cost effective. This type of agreement between insurance company and repairer only leads to shoddy workmanship and cutting corners. YET ANOTHER WAY FOR AVIVA TO SAVE MONEY AND SOD THE POLICYHOLDERS CAR.
